Kiki McDonough Lavender Amethyst Pear and Oval Drop Earrings

Remember when I said I wanted to see more purple jewelry on Kate? My wish was finally granted!

Kate wore these lavender amethyst earrings on April 14, 2016, to meet with King Jigme Khesar Namgyl Wangchuck and his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema.

From the website: “Stunning drop earrings featuring large pear and oval shaped lavender amethyst stones surrounded by dazzling diamonds set in 18ct white gold.”

Here is the closeup:

They are made of two lavender amethyst stones: one pear shaped, the other slightly oval. Each stone is framed by tiny white diamonds. The pear shaped drop dangles beneath the oval one and is set (in Kiki’s signature style) with a single bezel white diamond between the two, to act as an “attachment” from the front (I’m sure the bezel is also set in gold, but from the front it appears as though the two stones are connected by one diamond). The entire earring is set in white gold.

They aren’t as massive as the Amrapali earrings, but they are not terribly small either.

Here they are on Kate.

These cost £3,900 or $5,538.

This is a rather fun post to write because these earrings were chosen by Elizabeth George as a piece she wanted to see Kate wear. It’s very exciting when Kate actually wears pieces we select for her. 🙂 You can read about it here.
