On September 27, 2016, Kate wore these Monica Vinader Siren earrings in green onyx.
From the website: “These simple, sophisticated earrings are great for everyday wear. The organic, irregular shaped multi-faceted Green Onyx gemstone is encased in 18ct Gold Plated Vermeil on Sterling Silver. The gemstone in these earring measures approximately 12mm x 10mm (0.47 x 0.4″).”
These are an intriguing choice for Kate because I considered buying them for myself before she wore them. It seems like we really do have similar tastes in jewelry.
The earrings consist of a faceted green onyx stone set in goldplated silver. They hang from a gold plated earring hook, giving them a short drop.
Monica Vinader’s Siren collection is described as “Colour gemstones and organic shapes inspired by sea-worn treasures and the glamour of southern Italy.”
Some information about the origin of their stones and the alterations made to them: “Onyx is a chalcedony consisting of fine bands of quartz and morganite in a variety of colours. Our green onyx comes from India and is enhanced with natural dyes to attain its strong, pure bright green colour.”
These earrings cost $195 USD
