Pearl Drop and Diamond Stud Earrings

Kate first wore these earrings on the Royal Tour of Canada this year. She wore them again on her first solo overseas trip to The Netherlands.

These earrings are not unfamiliar to some of us. Anna of My Small Obsessions notes that both Queen Elizabeth II and Sophie, Countess of Wessex have worn them. Anna believes this pair belongs to the Queen and she loans them to other Royal women.

Update: The Telegraph has stated these were loaned to Kate by the Queen.

They are quite simple: a diamond stud on the earlobe and an egg shaped pear drop attached as a dangle. I have seen video of Kate wearing these earrings. The pearl moves freely so I can confirm that they are not stationary.

Oscar de la Renta Pearl Gold Disc Button Earrings

On October 14, 2016, Kate debuted these new button earrings.

From the website: “Gilded details nod to natural oysters and Art Deco discs in these show-stopping button earrings, accented with lustrous Swarovski crystal pearls in statement, sea-inspired design. Handcrafted in America from weightless gold-plated pewter, this simple silhouette incorporates just the right amount of elegance into any look.”

• 5/8” long x 5/8” wide
• Clip backs with comfort pads
• Pewter / crystal pearl / brass
• Nickel-free / lead-free / cadmium-free

I admit I didn’t quite catch the reference to pearls in oyster shells until I read the description. It’s a clever design consisting of a round pearl centered in a hammered metal setting.

The earring attaches to the lobe by a post. The base of the main component is slightly curved at the rim, echoing the natural curvature of an oyster shell.

Shelley MacDonald Large Bronze Modern Ulu Earrings

On September 29, 2016, Kate wore these handmade earrings created by Canadian goldsmith Shelley MacDonald.

The earrings are designed after the knife traditionally used by Inuit, Yup’ik and Aleut women. Traditionally it was made with caribou antler, muskox horn or walrus ivory. In contemporary times, the handle is still made with caribou antler but the blades are made with steel.

Shelley’s designs are handmade by Shelley herself and come in bronze or silver. She offers Small earrings ($49.52 for bronze and $57.25 for silver) and Large earrings ($73.50 for bronze and $88.97 for silver).

Here is an interview conducted by Gemma for What Would Kate Do?  with Ms. MacDonald.

Poll: Outfits and Accessories on this Blog?

An Instagram follower asked me if I could review on the blog a replikate shoe purchase I made.

I had intended for this blog to be devoted to Kate’s jewelry and reviews of her jewelry. Lately I have been wondering if I should expand it to include outfit posts and reviews on accessories. I have been gaining a stronger interest in replikating her dresses and other outfits.

Vote in the poll to let me know if you think we should branch out the blog’s topics.

Shopping with Kate: Catherine Zoraida Fern Hoop Earrings

I was able to order these earrings sooner than I expected because there was a sale recently, as well as free shipping.

For my thoughts on the company’s shipping service and packaging, click here.

The Fern hoops arrived in an embossed leather box lined with black velvet.

As with the other Catherine Zoraida products I’ve purchased, the detail on the earrings is very impressive and exquisite.

The earrings feel lightweight and aren’t too long or too dramatic. The gold gleams very nicely and is of a rich hue. There is no earring back on it, but the hook is extremely long, so it’s not likely this will push out and fall out of your ear piercing.

They look even more beautiful in person. I’m very happy I bought these because I would never have seen the gorgeous detail if I didn’t see it up close.
